About WordPress Kansas City

WordPress KC is the place to learn more about WordPress in Kansas City. With regular WordPress-centric design, development, and digital marketing Meetups and a yearly WordCamp KC conference, there is something that’s right for you!

WordPress is a free open source software that is used to create custom websites and blogs powering nearly 30% of all websites on the internet today! WordPress started in 2003 as “just a blogging system,” but the WordPress platform has evolved to be used as full content management system (CMS) – and so much more through the thousands of plugins and widgets and themes — WordPress is limited only by your imagination!

WordCamps are free or low-cost local public educational conferences that happen all around the world to gather and educate WordPress users, organized by WordPress users. These low-key local gatherings allow people from all walks of life to attend, meet, share and learn. WordPress KC organizers also organize and host the annual WordCamp Kansas City conference.

Whether you’ve been with WordPress since the beginning or you’re brand new, we want you to come grow with us! Our goal is to educate and integrate the design, development, and content creation fields to better use of WordPress.

Travis Pflanz

Travis is the owner of Search Centered Digital Marketing, specializing in search engine optimization and WordPress website development. He creates websites & digital marketing strategies so small businesses can compete with large businesses online.

When not working on websites, Travis organizes the Kansas City Dog Club and volunteers at Wayside Waifs Humane Society and Spay & Neuter KC.

Sarah Humphrey

Sarah is the owner of 94 West, specializing in website development, search engine optimization, and digital marketing. She develops WordPress-based websites that drive leads, support sales, and build customer confidence and trust. She loves working with diverse businesses and constantly expanding her skill set to meet their needs.

Sarah is a native Kansas Citian and received her B.A. and M.U.P. at the University of Kansas.

Justice Anderson

Justice is a former college professor who was tasked with selecting and teaching a content management system which brought him to WordPress. Justice has been working with WordPress on and off since 2009. After a brief time away Justice is reigniting his love affair with WordPress and plans to launch several new websites this summer and fall – stay tuned!

Outside of technology Justice enjoys being the number one fan at his kids sporting events and learning about nutrition and fitness.

Mat Casner

Mat Casner loves being a small business owner and freelance entrepreneur. He is a multi-disciplined creative and communication professional with over 20 years experience in web development (including WordPress), graphic design, video production and marketing. Mat is the president of Redlogic Communications, Inc., his freelance digital design agency. He serves clients, ranging from large corporations to small businesses and non-profits organizations. He has worked with brands such as Sprint, Helzberg Diamonds, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Dimensional Innovations and Junior Achievement. He helps these businesses and organizations achieve their business goals by helping them design, develop and execute effective branding, web and social strategies, print collateral, advertising and marketing communications. He also coaches and mentors other creatives and freelancers through Freelance On Fire, he helps them become successful independent freelance business owners, even if they are brand new to freelancing.
